Sized for 3800 x 3800 mm boards rather than the 4200 mm of the larger DRAGON models, the DRAGON PE 383 is also the only DRAGON beam saw that adjusts the scoring saw automatically in both axes. The DRAGON PE 383 cuts three particle boards at once to 54 mm high with a 7.5 kW main saw, on 25 kW and 6500 kg.
The price of the DRAGON PE 383 is moved by the blade and tooling package, the extraction plant sized to the Ø120 mm and three Ø60 mm outlets, software and label setup at commissioning, electrical connection for a 25 kW load at 50 A, and transport, rigging and commissioning of a 6500 kg machine into a 56 m² bay.

The DRAGON PE 383 is a computer-controlled beam saw sized for workshops that cut 3800 mm boards rather than oversize panels. The DRAGON PE 383 handles a 3800 x 3800 mm cutting size, a 54 mm cutting height and three particle boards at a time, held by nine standard clamps and squared by a servo-controlled side alignment system. The cutting unit returns at 100 m/min, and cutting speed adjusts automatically to material thickness across three settings.
Automatic scoring adjustment
The scoring saw on the DRAGON PE 383 adjusts automatically in both axes, forwards and backwards as well as up and down, which is the feature most often missed on cheaper beam saws. On a shop running melamine-faced board in several thicknesses, that removes a manual setting step at every changeover. The scoring group uses a Ø200 x 4.2 mm blade at 2870 RPM driven by a 1.1 kW motor, while the main saw uses a Ø320 x 4.4 mm blade at 2945 RPM on a 7.5 kW motor.
Who the DRAGON PE 383 suits
The DRAGON PE 383 suits a furniture or joinery workshop moving from a sliding table saw to its first beam saw. Total connected power is 25 kW against 29 kW for the DRAGON PE 420-4 and 40 kW for the DRAGON PE 420-5, and the specified working area is 56 m² against 91 m² and 68 m² respectively, so the PE 383 is the least demanding DRAGON to install. The trade-off is capacity: 3800 mm instead of 4200 mm, 54 mm cutting height instead of 72 or 90 mm, and three boards per cut instead of four.

Standard equipment on the DRAGON PE 383 covers the computer control unit, optimisation system, barcode printer and remote service connection. Machine dimensions are 6300 x 8000 x 1900 mm at 6500 kg. The workshop must provide a 400 V 50 Hz three-phase supply at 50 A, compressed air at 6 bar, and extraction connected to the Ø120 mm bottom outlet and three Ø60 mm top outlets, assisted by the 3 kW turbine fan.
