The HOLZMANN HBS300J is the bandsaw to specify when a joinery needs real resaw depth but has only a single-phase supply. HBS300J cuts up to 165 mm deep at 90 degrees and clears 305 mm between blade and column, which covers resawing thick boards, cutting curved rails and breaking down small billets. The motor is rated 1050 W S6 and 750 W S1 on 230 V, so the HBS300J plugs into an ordinary workshop socket rather than waiting on a 400 V connection.
Blade range and the two-speed drive
Blade flexibility is the strongest argument for the HBS300J. The saw takes 2240 mm bands from 6 mm to 15 mm wide, running over 315 mm die-cast aluminium wheels with rubber tyres, so one machine covers tight curve work on a 6 mm band and straight deep rips on a 15 mm band. Two band speeds, 360 m/min and 720 m/min, let the operator drop to the slower speed for dense hardwood and plastics and use the faster speed for softwood and general breakdown work.
Table, tilt and fence capacity
The HBS300J works from a ground cast iron table of 600-860 x 400 mm that tilts from 0 to 45 degrees at the front, set 1000 mm above the floor for comfortable standing work. Ripping at the parallel fence is limited to 300 mm of width, and that figure is the one to check against your own component sizes before requesting a quotation.
How the HBS300J differs from the smaller HOLZMANN bandsaws
Compared with the HBS245HQ, the HBS300J is a heavier class of machine: 315 mm wheels against 254 mm, 165 mm depth of cut against 152 mm, a 1050 W S6 motor against 375 W S1, and 78 kg net against 37 kg. That extra mass and wheel diameter are why the HBS300J holds a straight line in hardwood where a light bench saw wanders.
Extraction and installation
Dust extraction on the HBS300J runs through a port sized for 40, 50, 75 and 100 mm hose, so the saw connects either to a small mobile extractor or to a shop ring main. At 78 kg net the HBS300J is a two-person lift onto its stand, and the blade must be tensioned and tracked after siting before the first cut.
