The HOLZMANN KAM35P is the machine for a shop that is moving off hand-held edge banding for the first time. The KAM35P glues, presses, trims and polishes automatically on a chain-conveyor feed, but deliberately leaves out the two units that make the larger KAM35 models longer and dearer: there is no pre-milling unit and no end-trim saw. Edge ends are cut with the hand trimmer supplied with the machine.

What the KAM35P will and will not handle

Capacity is where the KAM35P must be matched honestly to the work. The KAM35P takes edge tape 15–48 mm wide and 0.4–2 mm thick — note the 2 mm ceiling, which is lower than every other machine in the KAM35 range and rules out the 3 mm ABS commonly specified for heavy-duty kitchen carcasses. Panels run from 12 to 43 mm thick, minimum 70 mm long and 80 mm wide, at a feed rate of 7 m/min. That covers thin PVC and melamine tape on standard 16 and 18 mm board, which is the bulk of routine furniture work.

Units on the machine

The KAM35P carries a heated glue tank with electronic temperature control set from the display, feeding adhesive directly onto straight workpieces, followed by pressure rollers, a double trimming unit working top and bottom with a 0.37 kW motor per unit at 1380 rpm, and a polishing unit top and bottom with 0.18 kW motors at 1400 rpm. Two Ø150 mm polishing discs, two cutters for the double trimming unit and the hand trimmer are supplied with the KAM35P.

Supply, extraction and space

The KAM35P runs on 400 V three-phase with a total connected load of 3390 W and requires compressed air at 6 bar, so a workshop compressor is part of the installation and not an accessory. A single Ø100 mm port connects to extraction. At 2060 x 1050 x 1320 mm and 366 kg net, the KAM35P is the shortest machine in the range and fits into a bay where the 3705 mm KAM35ALL would not, but infeed and outfeed run-off space still has to be allowed on top of the machine length.
