Holzmann ABS chip and dust extractors (ABS 850, 1080, 1500, 2200 FLEX, 2480, 3880, 4560, 5340 and 8000 PRO) and SSAT 1000 / SSAT 2200 extraction plants. The hose, gates, branches, reducers and clamps fit any machine port from 50 to 200 mm, including HOB planer/thicknessers, FKS and table saws, FS spindle moulders, band saws and belt or wide-belt sanders, Holzmann or otherwise.

Sizing the ducting: start at the machine, not at the extractor
The port on the machine sets the hose bore. Most Holzmann planer/thicknessers, spindle moulders and table saws leave the factory with a 100 mm outlet; wide-belt sanders and larger band saws use 120 or 150 mm; router tables, mitre saws and handheld tools take 50 to 80 mm. Fit the hose that matches the port and reduce only where you must. Every step down costs airflow, and a 100 mm machine fed through a long 50 mm tail will leave dust on the table however large the extractor is.
Branches, blast gates and clamps
In a fixed workshop run, one trunk of 150 or 120 mm feeds each machine through AZW branch pieces and YV/YVS Y-pieces, and every branch gets a ZWS blast gate so only the machine in use is open. A two- or three-machine shop on a single-bag extractor should never have more than one gate open at a time. Hose clamps (SKL, 60 to 200 mm) are sized on the outside diameter of the hose over the spigot, not on the nominal bore.
Filters and chip bags
Which filter
Standard filter bags and cartridges hold chips and coarse dust. The ABSFF extra-fine filters and the ULF recirculated-air cartridges are what you need when the extractor discharges back into a heated workshop, because they retain the fine fraction that stays airborne and does the real damage to lungs. Never run an extractor indoors with a torn or missing fine filter.
When to change
Empty the chip bag at two-thirds full. A bag packed to the top strangles airflow, and the machine looks like it has lost suction when it has not. Shake or blow the filter down from the clean side at every bag change. Replace the filter when cleaning no longer restores flow, when it is glazed with resin or MDF dust, or after any water or spark ingress. In single-shift joinery once a year is typical; sanding MDF all day halves that.
What goes wrong with the wrong part
An undersized or collapsing hose drops chip velocity below the point at which chips stay airborne. They settle in the duct, block the low point, and eventually unbalance the fan. Loose clamps leak air at the joint, cutting suction at the tool while the extractor still sounds healthy. Both faults are routinely misdiagnosed as “the extractor is too small”.
What moves the price
Price is driven by diameter (a 150 mm blast gate costs several times an 80 mm one), hose type and length (4 m versus 10 m rolls), filter class (standard bag against extra-fine ABSFF or recirculated-air ULF cartridge), whether you take single fittings or a complete shop run laid out from your machine list, and delivery.

How do I work out which extraction hose diameter fits a machine I already own?
Measure the outside diameter of the machine's extraction spigot with a tape or caliper: a 100 mm spigot takes 100 mm dust extraction hose and a 100 mm SKL clamp. If the machine has two ports (hood and table), each needs its own hose and a branch piece. Send us the machine model and a photo of the port and we will list the correct hose, clamp and reducer on the quotation.
Can I run several machines from one dust extractor?
Yes, provided the dust extraction run is built with blast gates. Feed a 120 or 150 mm trunk from the extractor, take an AZW or Y-branch to each machine, and fit a ZWS gate on every branch so only the machine in use is open. A single-bag extractor cannot supply two open ports at once, which is why the gates matter more than extractor size.
How often do the filter and chip bag need replacing?
Empty the chip bag at two-thirds full and clean the filter down from the clean side at every bag change. Replace the dust extraction filter when cleaning no longer restores airflow, when it is glazed with resin or MDF dust, or after water or spark ingress. Single-shift joinery typically replaces once a year; heavy MDF sanding roughly twice as often.
What is the difference between a standard filter and an extra-fine or recirculated-air filter?
A standard dust extraction filter bag holds chips and coarse dust and is acceptable when the extractor exhausts outdoors. The ABSFF extra-fine filters and ULF recirculated-air cartridges retain the fine airborne fraction and are what you need when the extractor blows back into a heated, occupied workshop.
Do these dust extraction accessories fit non-Holzmann machines?
The ducting side does. Hose, blast gates, branches, reducers, spigots and clamps are sized purely by diameter, so they fit any machine with a 50 to 200 mm port regardless of brand. Filters and chip bags are model-specific and must be ordered against the extractor model, for example ABS 1080, ABS 2200 FLEX or SSAT 2200.
