Choose furniture production machinery in the order a panel actually travels through the shop: size it, edge it, drill it, then shape it. A cabinet workshop that buys the panel saw first and the edge bander second rarely regrets that order, because the saw sets the squareness and edge quality of every part that follows, while the edge bander only has to keep up with what the saw produces.
Sizing: sliding table panel saw or beam saw
A sliding table panel saw is the right sizing machine for almost every Georgian furniture workshop, because a panel saw is operator-paced: one person loads the sheet onto the carriage and controls each cut. A beam saw belongs in a shop where sheet volume, not operator skill, has become the bottleneck, because a beam saw clamps a stack of panels and cuts programmed strips through the book. Edge finishing
Edge banding machines decide how a finished cabinet is judged, since the edge is what a customer touches.
