A downdraft sanding table draws sanding dust down through a perforated top and away from the operator's breathing zone, so hand sanding, orbital work and finish preparation do not fill the workshop with fines. This category holds 4 HOLZMANN SSAT tables in two distinct types: the self-extracting SSAT1000 (4000 m³/h from one 1000 W fan) and SSAT2200 (8000 m³/h from two), which need only a 230 V socket, and the SSAT150H and SSAT150M benches, which have no fan and connect through a Ø160 mm port to a dust collector supplying at least 1030 m³/h. All four are supplied by quotation.

Self-extracting table or bench for an existing collector?
The first decision on a downdraft sanding table is whether it brings its own suction. The SSAT1000 and SSAT2200 are self-extracting: fans and front filters are built in, and they need nothing but a 230 V socket. The SSAT150H and SSAT150M are extraction benches with no motor at all – each has a Ø160 mm port and requires a dust collector able to supply 1030 m³/h. If a collector with a spare branch is already in the shop, the SSAT150 pair is the cheaper route; if not, the SSAT1000 or SSAT2200 avoids buying a collector as well.
Table size and what it has to carry
Size the table from the largest workpiece you sand flat on it. The SSAT1000 gives a 1050 x 600 mm working top and the SSAT2200 a 2200 x 600 mm top, which takes a full door or a run of cabinet parts. The SSAT150H offers 1440 x 800 mm of surface and the SSAT150M 1350 x 695 mm, both rated to a 200 kg payload and adjustable in height from 760 to 1030 mm – useful where the same bench serves a seated and a standing operator. The SSAT1000 and SSAT2200 stand at a fixed 850 mm overall height.
Wood or metal: the SSAT150 pair
The SSAT150H and SSAT150M differ by insert and working surface, not by frame. The SSAT150H carries a wood insert over 1440 x 800 mm and weighs 80 kg net; the SSAT150M carries a metal insert over 1350 x 695 mm and weighs 90 kg. Both share the 1570 x 1050 mm overall footprint, the 760 to 1030 mm height range, the 200 kg payload and the Ø160 mm port. Never run hot grinding sparks from metalwork into extraction shared with wood dust – a metal bench should have its own collector or a proper spark arrestor.
Power supply, airflow and filters
Both self-extracting tables stay on single-phase power. The SSAT1000 uses one 1000 W fan on 230 V / 50 Hz with a 250 mm wheel for 4000 m³/h, filtered by two 395 x 495 x 24 mm front panels. The SSAT2200 doubles that: two 1000 W fans and two Ø250 mm wheels for 8000 m³/h through four front filters, still from a single 230 V / 50 Hz supply. Those front filter panels are consumables and should be budgeted as running cost, along with cleaning them regularly – a blinded filter turns a downdraft table into an ordinary bench.
Space, noise and what you budget separately
Plan the footprint plus standing room on the working side. The SSAT1000 occupies 1050 x 600 x 850 mm at 68 kg, the SSAT2200 2200 x 600 x 850 mm at 130 kg, and the SSAT150 benches 1570 x 1050 mm at 80 or 90 kg. The SSAT2200 is quoted under 73.5 dB(A) sound pressure and the SSAT1000 at 85 dB(A) sound power. For the SSAT150H and SSAT150M, budget the dust collector, the Ø160 mm hose or duct, a blast gate and the clamps – the bench alone will not extract anything. For all four, budget replacement filters or bags and the abrasives themselves.

- No dust collector available
- SSAT1000 or SSAT2200 - both are self-extracting, with fans and filters built in, and run from a 230 V socket.
- Collector already installed with a spare branch
- SSAT150H or SSAT150M: no motor, a Ø160 mm port, and a required collector capacity of 1030 m³/h.
- Sanding doors or long cabinet parts
- SSAT2200, with a 2200 x 600 mm top and 8000 m³/h from two 1000 W fans - the only table here over 1.5 m long with its own suction.
- Bench working height must adjust
- SSAT150H or SSAT150M, adjustable from 760 to 1030 mm. The SSAT1000 and SSAT2200 are fixed at 850 mm overall height.
- Heavy workpieces on the table
- SSAT150H and SSAT150M are rated to a 200 kg payload across a 1570 x 1050 mm frame.
- Metal sanding or deburring
- SSAT150M with its metal insert and 1350 x 695 mm top; keep metal extraction separate from wood dust extraction.
- Largest wood surface on an extraction bench
- SSAT150H at 1440 x 800 mm, against 1350 x 695 mm on the SSAT150M, and 10 kg lighter at 80 kg net.
- Floor space under 1.1 m of bench length
- SSAT1000 at 1050 x 600 x 850 mm and 68 kg - the compact self-extracting option for a small workshop.
