A cyclone dust collector spins chips out of the airstream before they reach the filter, so the filter stays clean, airflow holds up through a full shift, and waste drops into a wheeled bin instead of a bag you have to wrestle off a ring. This category holds 3 HOLZMANN RLE machines: the single-phase RLE1500 at 1900 m³/h, the RLE2200 at 2800 m³/h and the RLE3000 at 3200 m³/h with a 227 litre bin. All three combine a main inlet with three Ø100 mm branches and are supplied by quotation.

Cyclone dust collector or bag collector?

A cyclone dust collector earns its extra cost in shops that extract all day. Because a cyclone drops the heavy chips into a bin before the air reaches the filter, the filter blinds far more slowly than on a bag collector, airflow stays closer to its rated figure late in the shift, and emptying means wheeling out a bin rather than unclamping a full sack. The RLE machines also run quieter than comparable bag units, at 71 dB(A) sound pressure on the RLE1500 and 74 dB(A) on the RLE2200 and RLE3000.

Sizing: match the main inlet to your trunk duct

Size a cyclone dust collector by its main inlet first. The RLE1500 takes a Ø150 mm main and moves 1900 m³/h at 2040 Pa – enough for one or two machines on short branches. The RLE2200 and RLE3000 step up to a Ø200 mm main, at 2800 m³/h and 2220 Pa and 3200 m³/h and 2470 Pa respectively, which is the size a fixed trunk line around a small production shop wants. All three add three Ø100 mm branches beside the main inlet, so machine hoods connect without a custom manifold.

Power supply decides more than airflow

Power supply splits this range in two. The RLE1500 is the only cyclone here that runs on 230 V / 50 Hz single-phase, from a 1500 W motor, so it is the choice for a workshop with no three-phase board. The RLE2200 (2200 W) and RLE3000 (3000 W) both require 400 V / 50 Hz three-phase. If three-phase is not installed, the RLE1500 is the ceiling of this category, and installing a board should be costed before comparing the larger machines.

Floor space, height and bin handling

Cyclones are tall and heavy, so check the building before the specification. The RLE1500 occupies 1280 x 790 mm and stands 1740 mm at 97 kg net; the RLE2200 occupies 1320 x 900 mm at 1840 mm and 136 kg; the RLE3000 shares that footprint but reaches 2190 mm and 153 kg. Add clearance above for filter service and, more importantly, room in front to roll the bin out: 110 l on the RLE1500, 151 l on the RLE2200 and 227 l on the RLE3000. Each machine also carries an 80 l bag on the fines side.

What you budget separately

Budget the ductwork with the cyclone dust collector. Trunk pipe in Ø150 or Ø200 mm, reducers to Ø100 mm branches, blast gates, flexible hose and clamps are separate items, as is the electrical installation and starter for a 400 V machine. Replacement filter elements and fines bags are consumables. If the shop is small enough that the run is short, a bag collector may be the cheaper honest answer; a cyclone pays back where the duct is fixed and the machine runs daily.

What the top of the range buys

Between the RLE1500 and the RLE3000 every number moves in the same direction: airflow from 1900 to 3200 m³/h, static pressure from 2040 to 2470 Pa, fan wheel from 365 to 400 mm, bin from 110 to 227 litres, and weight from 97 to 153 kg. The RLE3000 is the machine to specify when the duct run is long and the bin should be emptied once a day rather than three times.

No three-phase supply in the building
RLE1500 only - 1500 W on 230 V / 50 Hz. The RLE2200 and RLE3000 both require a 400 V three-phase board.
Main trunk duct Ø150 mm
RLE1500, which takes a Ø150 mm main inlet plus three Ø100 mm branches at 1900 m³/h and 2040 Pa.
Main trunk duct Ø200 mm
RLE2200 at 2800 m³/h or RLE3000 at 3200 m³/h; both take a Ø200 mm main inlet with three Ø100 mm branches.
Ceiling height under 2 metres
RLE1500 at 1740 mm or RLE2200 at 1840 mm. The RLE3000 stands 2190 mm and needs service clearance above that.
How often you want to empty the bin
110 l on the RLE1500, 151 l on the RLE2200, 227 l on the RLE3000 - the 227 l bin is the reason most heavy users move up.
Long duct run with several bends
Choose on static pressure: 2470 Pa on the RLE3000, 2220 Pa on the RLE2200, 2040 Pa on the RLE1500.
Noise in a shared workshop
71 dB(A) sound pressure on the RLE1500 and 74 dB(A) on the RLE2200 and RLE3000 - quieter than large bag collectors of similar output.

What does a cyclone dust collector do that a bag collector does not?
A cyclone dust collector separates the heavy chips into a bin before the air reaches the filter, so the filter blinds slowly and airflow stays close to its rated figure through the shift. On the HOLZMANN RLE range, waste collects in a wheeled bin of 110, 151 or 227 litres with an 80 l bag on the fines side, which is emptied by rolling the bin out rather than unclamping a full sack. A bag collector is simpler and cheaper; a cyclone suits fixed ducting and daily production.
Which cyclone should I choose, the RLE1500, RLE2200 or RLE3000?
Choose the cyclone by power supply first and trunk duct second. The RLE1500 is the only single-phase machine, at 1900 m³/h through a Ø150 mm main inlet. The RLE2200 gives 2800 m³/h through a Ø200 mm main inlet and stands 1840 mm, which suits a lower building. The RLE3000 gives 3200 m³/h at 2470 Pa with a 227 l bin, and is the choice for a long duct run and heavy daily use - at 2190 mm of height.
Do HOLZMANN cyclone dust collectors need three-phase power?
Two of the three do. The RLE2200 (2200 W) and RLE3000 (3000 W) both require a 400 V / 50 Hz three-phase supply. The RLE1500 runs on 230 V / 50 Hz single-phase from a 1500 W motor, and is the only cyclone in this category that works in a building without a three-phase board. If the workshop has no three-phase supply, either specify the RLE1500 or cost the electrical installation before comparing the larger machines.
How much space does a cyclone dust collector need?
A cyclone dust collector needs its footprint plus service and bin-handling room. The RLE1500 measures 1280 x 790 x 1740 mm at 97 kg, the RLE2200 1320 x 900 x 1840 mm at 136 kg and the RLE3000 1320 x 900 x 2190 mm at 153 kg. Allow clearance above the cabinet for filter service and free floor in front to wheel the collection bin out. The machine is normally sited at the end of the trunk duct, often against an outside wall.
What else do I need to budget beside the cyclone itself?
Beside the cyclone dust collector, budget trunk pipe in Ø150 or Ø200 mm, reducers down to the Ø100 mm branches, blast gates, flexible hose and clamps, plus electrical installation and a starter for the 400 V machines. Replacement filter elements and fines bags are running costs. Send a sketch of the workshop with the machine positions marked and the quotation can cover the ducting and the collector together.
What drives the price of a cyclone extraction installation?
The price of a cyclone extraction installation is driven by the machine size - 1900, 2800 or 3200 m³/h - by the main inlet and the amount of ducting and blast gates the layout needs, by bin capacity, by electrical work for a three-phase machine, and by delivery, positioning and commissioning. Because the ducting can rival the collector in a large shop, tell us the machine list and the layout so the quotation reflects the whole system rather than the cyclone alone.
