What the FR 2100 SA does

The FR 2100 SA is the heaviest carriage machine in NETMAK’s FR 2100 spindle moulder range, and reinforcement is what the SA designation buys. The 1200 x 800 mm table rides on a strengthened carriage assembly that takes the FR 2100 SA to 695 kg and a 970 mm overall width — 70 mm wider and 15 kg heavier than the standard FR 2100 S — with the extra structure placed where a long, heavy component overhangs the table. Behind that sits the range’s 7.5 kW / 10 HP motor with three spindle speeds of 4000, 6000 and 8000 rpm, a 30-35 mm spindle and 150 mm of vertical travel shown on a digital indicator.

Who the FR 2100 SA suits

The FR 2100 SA is specified for door and window manufacturers running the same profile across large batches of heavy solid timber. When an entrance-door stile is clamped near the end of the carriage and a deep profile is taken in one pass, the load on the carriage is at its worst, and that is the case the FR 2100 SA is built for. A workshop making lighter cabinet frames will not load the reinforcement enough to justify it.

How the FR 2100 SA compares with its siblings

Above the table the FR 2100 SA is identical to the FR 2100 S — the same table size, spindle, collet and motor — with the difference confined to the carriage structure, weight and width. Compared with the FR 2000 SA, the FR 2100 SA is a substantially bigger machine: 695 kg against 590 kg, 7.5 kW against 5.5 kW, a 1200 x 800 mm table against 1000 x 750 mm, and a 30-35 mm spindle against a fixed 30 mm, at the cost of a lower 8000 rpm top speed. For full-length rails, the FR 2100 I.T. and its 2200 x 840 mm table takes over from the FR 2100 SA.

What is supplied with the FR 2100 SA

The FR 2100 SA ships with the reinforced carriage, a curved-workpiece jig, an electromechanical spindle brake, a guard-cover safety interlock circuit and a digital height indicator on a monobloc steel body. Cutter heads, knives, feeders and extraction are ordered separately.
