Start with the two fittings that decide everything
Every workholding accessory attaches either to the headstock spindle thread or to a Morse taper. Holzmann D-series lathes use an M33 spindle thread and MT2 (MK2) tapers, so the SPU40 and SPU60 tongue chucks, the PSE90, PSE120 and PSE200 faceplates and the SRBFM33 screw chuck thread straight on, while the 4ZM20 and 4ZM40 four-prong drive centres, the MS3TLG chuck set and the RKMK2 and ROLMK2 centres seat in the taper. Chucks and faceplates: size to the blank
Chuck body diameter should suit the work, not the maximum the lathe can swing. DP65 handles small boxes and spindle work, DP95 is the general-purpose size for bowls of moderate diameter, and DP125 takes heavier blanks where grip matters more than delicacy. The DREVD1100 four-jaw self-centring chuck holds square and irregular stock that a scroll chuck cannot. HSS chisels or replaceable carbide
The H6TLG, H8TLG and H8TLGN HSS sets are the traditional route – they regrind on a bench grinder, hold a fine finishing edge and reward technique. The H4TLGS, H4TLGM and H4TLGXL sets use exchangeable carbide tips: no grinding, a scraping cut, and a spare tip instead of a sharpening session. HM8TLG micro tools cover miniature and detail work. Occasional turners get clean results faster with carbide; fine finishing cuts still favour HSS.
Stands and bed extensions
D460UG and D460UG2 stands give the lathe mass and a fixed working height, which matters more than it sounds the first time a blank runs out of balance. The D460BVL, D500BVL and D510FBVL bed extensions add between-centres capacity for long spindle work such as legs and balusters.

Many shops keep both: carbide for roughing and awkward stock, HSS for the final surface.
Do the drive centres and live centres share the same taper?
Yes.
