The HOLZMANN DBM21N exists to end hole-by-hole drilling. Where a single-spindle machine bores one hole per operation, the DBM21N drills up to 21 holes in one stroke, spaced at the 32 mm pitch that the entire European cabinet fittings system is built on. Across a 640 mm span from the first to the last spindle, the DBM21N covers a full row of shelf-support and fitting holes in a carcase side in a single cycle, and repeats it identically on every panel.
32 mm system compatibility
Spindle spacing on the DBM21N is fixed at 32 mm, which is what makes the machine directly useful rather than merely fast. Hinge plates, drawer runners, shelf supports and connecting fittings from every major hardware supplier are dimensioned on the 32 mm grid, so panels bored on the DBM21N accept standard hardware without adaptation. Maximum drilling depth on the DBM21N is 50 mm, ample for dowels, cam fittings and shelf pins.
Pneumatic tilt: three angles, one machine
The DBM21N is not limited to face boring. The boring unit on the DBM21N tilts pneumatically to 0, 45 and 90 degrees, which means the same machine drills the face of a panel, the edge of a panel, and mitred joints, so a carcase side and its matching edge holes are produced without moving to a second machine. Air supply for the DBM21N must be between 6 and 8 bar.
Foot pedal working
Cycle control on the DBM21N keeps both operator hands on the workpiece. A single foot pedal clamps the panel, drills, and releases, which is faster and considerably safer than hand-operated clamping, and it is what allows a production rhythm on the DBM21N rather than a series of separate setup steps. The table measures 870 x 550 mm and takes workpieces up to 80 mm thick.
What the DBM21N requires
The DBM21N is a serious installation. At 341.5 kg net and 412 kg crated the DBM21N needs a forklift, a firm level floor and a permanent position. It requires a 400 V three-phase supply for its 2100 W (S6) / 1500 W (S1) motor and, critically, a compressed air supply capable of 6 to 8 bar – a workshop without a compressor must budget for one before the DBM21N can run at all. Drill bits for all 21 spindles are a separate tooling cost.
