NETMAK PL 400 Surface Planer (400 mm)

PL 400 Planya Makinasi

The NETMAK PL 400 is the narrowest of the three PL surface planers at 400 mm jointing width, and the lightest at 710 kg on an 800 mm wide footprint. Like the PL 500 and PL 600, the PL 400 runs 2600 mm tables, a 120 mm four-knife block at 4500 rpm on a 5.5 kW motor, and cuts up to 15 mm deep.

ფასი მოთხოვნით

PL 400 pricing is driven by cutterblock choice (standard four-knife or the optional helical block), whether automatic table adjustment and the digital height indicator are added, and by delivery and installation of a 2600 mm long machine, which is often the deciding logistics cost.

What the PL 400 surface planer does

The NETMAK PL 400 creates the first flat face and the first square edge on rough timber, the reference surfaces every later operation depends on. Total table length is 2600 mm, split into a 1420 mm infeed table and an 1180 mm outfeed table, which is long enough to support a 3 metre door stile without a roller stand under each end. A 120 mm cutterblock with four knives runs at 4500 rpm on a 7.5 HP / 5.5 kW motor, and the PL 400 will take up to 15 mm of material in a single pass on stock up to 400 mm wide.

Who the PL 400 suits

The PL 400 fits joinery and door workshops that machine long solid-timber sections rather than sheet material. Long tables are the whole argument for this class of machine: a short-bed planer produces a banana out of a 2.5 metre length no matter how carefully it is fed, while the 2600 mm bed of the PL 400 holds the workpiece flat through the cut. At 710 kg, the PL 400 is also the lightest and narrowest of the three NETMAK PL models, which matters in shops where floor space is tight.

PL 400 against the PL 500 and PL 600

All three NETMAK surface planers share the same 2600 mm table length, 1420 mm infeed and 1180 mm outfeed split, 15 mm depth of cut, four-knife 120 mm block, 4500 rpm spindle and 7.5 HP / 5.5 kW motor. They differ only in width and mass: the PL 400 gives 400 mm and 710 kg over an 800 x 2600 x 1250 mm footprint, the PL 500 gives 500 mm and 770 kg, the PL 600 gives 600 mm and 880 kg. Choose the PL 400 when the work is framing timber, door and window sections and furniture rails; step up if wide glued panels have to be faced.

What is included with the PL 400

Every PL 400 is supplied with a monoblock steel body, an electromechanical brake, two dedicated hand and knife guards, a cast fence that tilts through 45 degrees, and four knives on the 120 mm block. Optional on the PL 400 are a digital height indicator, automatic table adjustment and a helical cutterblock. Chip extraction, a power feed unit and knife-setting equipment are not included and are usually specified alongside the machine.

უპირატესობები

  • 2600 mm bed keeps long door and window sections straight through the cut
  • 15 mm depth of cut clears heavy waste from rough-sawn stock in few passes
  • 45 degree cast fence and twin guards are standard equipment

გასათვალისწინებელი

  • Surface planing only, so a separate thicknesser is still needed
  • 400 mm width is the narrowest of the PL range and cannot face wide panels
  • Manual table setting unless the optional automatic table adjustment is ordered

ხშირად დასმული კითხვები

How long a board can the NETMAK PL 400 handle?
The PL 400 has 2600 mm of table, made up of a 1420 mm infeed and an 1180 mm outfeed section, so the PL 400 supports boards of roughly that length unaided. Longer stock can be planed on the PL 400 with infeed and outfeed roller stands, which are not supplied with the machine.
What is the maximum width the PL 400 will plane?
The PL 400 faces stock up to 400 mm wide and removes up to 15 mm per pass. For wider work, the NETMAK PL 500 (500 mm) and PL 600 (600 mm) use the same 2600 mm bed and the same 7.5 HP / 5.5 kW drive as the PL 400.
Does the PL 400 also thickness timber?
No, the PL 400 is a surface planer only and flattens one face and squares one edge; the PL 400 has no thicknessing table beneath the block. Bringing the opposite face to a set dimension needs a separate thicknesser such as the NETMAK KA 600 or KA 630.
What power supply and extraction does the PL 400 need?
The PL 400 has a single 7.5 HP / 5.5 kW motor and requires a separate chip extraction connection, which is not part of the machine. NETMAK does not publish the supply voltage or phase for the PL 400, so confirm those with the dealer before the electrical installation is planned.
Can the fence on the PL 400 be angled?
Yes, the PL 400 is fitted as standard with a cast fence that tilts through 45 degrees, so chamfers and angled edges can be planed without a jig. The 45 degree cast fence and two hand and knife guards are standard equipment on the PL 400, not extras.
How much floor space does the PL 400 occupy?
The PL 400 measures 800 x 2600 x 1250 mm and weighs 710 kg, so the PL 400 needs a clear 2.6 metre run plus working space at both ends. Position the PL 400 so that a full-length board can be walked through without obstruction from either side.
How much does the NETMAK PL 400 cost?
The NETMAK PL 400 surface planer is supplied on quotation rather than at a listed price. The PL 400 quotation depends on cutterblock choice (standard 120 mm four-knife or the optional helical block), whether automatic table adjustment and a digital height indicator are specified, and on delivery and installation of a 2600 mm long, 710 kg machine in Georgia. Since the PL 400, PL 500 and PL 600 share the same 5.5 kW drive and differ mainly in width, ask for the width you actually need to be quoted.
How long does it take to get a NETMAK PL 400?
The NETMAK PL 400 is built to order, so the PL 400 lead time is confirmed with the quotation rather than published. A standard four-knife PL 400 is normally the quickest specification, while a helical cutterblock or automatic table adjustment is scheduled as a build. Request current PL 400 availability along with the quotation.
What does installing a PL 400 involve?
Installing a PL 400 means allowing for a 2600 mm long machine on an 800 x 2600 mm footprint at 710 kg, with clear run-out at both the infeed and outfeed ends so long stock can be fed, then levelling the machine along the full table length so the tables stay coplanar. A three-phase supply is connected by a qualified electrician and the cutterblock hood is ducted to a chip extractor. NETMAK does not publish the PL 400's voltage, phase or port sizes, so these are confirmed at quotation, and delivery and commissioning can be quoted with the machine.
What tooling and consumables should be budgeted with a PL 400?
Alongside the PL 400 itself, budget for at least one spare set of knives for the 120 mm four-knife block (or spare inserts if the optional helical cutterblock is taken), a knife-setting jig or gauge, and a chip extractor with ducting, since extraction is not supplied with the PL 400. Guards and brake components are the usual wear parts to hold as spares for a PL 400.
