The HOLZMANN ABS2480 is the machine to pick when one or two woodworking machines run at a time and 2480 m³/h is enough air. The ABS2480 is a dust collector with insert built from sheet metal, drawing through two 100 mm dust collector ports at 1800 Pa of negative pressure, with a 300 mm fan wheel turning at 2950 min-1. Four swivel casters let the 36 kg machine be rolled from a saw to a planer instead of being ducted to both.
Motor and duty rating
The ABS2480 is rated for steady running rather than short bursts, at 1500 W on the S1 continuous rating and 2250 W on the S6 intermittent rating. Fan speed is 2950 min-1 in both the 230 V and the 400 V build of the ABS2480, so the suction figures do not change with the supply chosen; the supply is a question of what the workshop already has at the wall.
Chip handling and floor space
Emptying the ABS2480 is a bag change rather than a filter service. The chip bag holds 270 l and measures 500 mm in diameter by 1400 mm long, which gives a long interval between changes for a shop feeding one machine at a time. The ABS2480 stands up to 2430 mm at full working height, the tallest of the three insert models, so the ceiling clearance in the intended corner is worth measuring before the machine arrives.
