The HOLZMANN HOB410N is the heavy, traditional member of the 410 mm combination class, and buyers choose the HOB410N for mass and cutterblock diameter rather than for the latest features. A Ø 95 mm four-knife block turning at 4500 min-1 carries far more inertia than the slimmer Ø 70 mm heads used on the ECO machines, which shows up when a wide, hard board goes through at full depth. The HOB410N takes up to 5 mm in a planing pass and 3 mm in a thicknessing pass, on a 330 kg net cabinet-based frame.
Changeover and thicknessing
Changing the HOB410N between modes is a mechanical, tool-free operation. The grey cast iron planing tables pivot sideways together, clearing the 750 x 405 mm thicknessing table beneath, and the dust hood tilts over for thicknessing work. The infeed mechanism on the HOB410N can be switched off for surface planing, so the feed rollers are not turning while the operator works over the block. Height on the thicknessing table is set with a hand wheel against a scale, and the table runs on a double guide that keeps the setting square across the full 405 mm width. Feed rollers are well bedded top and bottom so contact pressure stays even at the 8 m/min feed rate.
Motor, fence and extraction
Power on the HOB410N is generous for a 410 mm machine: 4200 W S6 with a 3000 W continuous S1 rating, supplied on 400 V three-phase only. The planer fence measures 1100 x 130 mm and tilts between 45° and 90°, and a switch-plug combination keeps the controls to hand. A single 100 mm dust collector port serves both modes.
Practical points before quoting
The HOB410N is a workshop fixture, not a machine that moves. At 330 kg net and 382 kg gross, with a thicknesser table height of 925 mm, the HOB410N is taller at the work point than most of the range and needs a level floor plus infeed and outfeed room beyond the 1600 mm planing tables.
