The HOLZMANN R455B is an open-ended wide belt drum sander with 457 mm sanding width in a single pass and up to 914 mm capacity by turning the workpiece, driven by a 2.2 kW induction motor on 400 V three-phase power. The R455B takes workpieces from 6 to 127 mm thick on an oscillating 457 x 1010 mm belt over a rubberised 82 mm drum.
R455B pricing moves with freight for a 247 kg crate, customs and VAT into Georgia, the abrasive belt starter package and grit range specified, whether a dust collector and ducting are ordered with the machine, delivery and positioning, three-phase electrical connection, and commissioning and training.

The HOLZMANN R455B sands panels twice as wide as its drum. Because the R455B is built with a unilateral opening rather than a closed frame, a workpiece can be passed through, turned end for end and passed through again, taking the effective sanding capacity to 914 mm from a 457 mm drum. For a workshop sanding cabinet doors, table tops and glued panels, that single design decision is what makes the R455B viable where a closed 457 mm machine would not be.
Oscillation, not just rotation
Belt oscillation is the feature that separates the R455B from a plain drum sander. The abrasive belt on the R455B oscillates across the drum as it runs, which breaks up the straight scratch pattern a fixed belt leaves and spreads wear across the full 457 x 1010 mm belt instead of concentrating it in one band. The result on the R455B is a better surface and materially lower abrasive cost per panel.
Built for window and frame work
HOLZMANN positions the R455B specifically for window frame sanding, and the thickness range explains why. The R455B handles workpieces from 6 mm up to 127 mm thick, so it takes thin panel components and full frame sections on the same machine, and a depth scale marked in both metric and inch shows the thickness setting directly. The rubberised sanding drum of 82 mm diameter conforms slightly to the work, which is more forgiving on frames than a hard drum.
Frame, motor and noise
The R455B is built heavier than its footprint suggests. A quality cast iron frame with extension on rails carries the R455B’s 215 kg net, the 2.2 kW induction motor running at 1420 min-1 is quiet in use, and sound pressure at the operator position is 82 dB(A). Overall dimensions of the R455B are 960 x 740 x 1550 mm, so it occupies less than a square metre of floor.
Extraction is not optional on the R455B
A drum sander produces fine dust in volume, and the R455B must be extracted. A single 100 mm suction port sits on top of the R455B and needs a dust collector with genuine airflow at that diameter, not a shop vacuum. Budget the extractor, ducting and filter media alongside the machine, together with a stock of 457 x 1010 mm abrasive belts in the grits you work through – abrasive is the main running cost of an R455B.
